The GREEN Technology REACHER Plus Integral Stimulation Fluid System got deeper radius of penetration into the dolomite-Limestone formation increasing up to 3,322 BOPD at offshore Gulf of Mexico.

After a several lab tests research between the traditional HCL acids already in place for decades and, the innovative REACHER Plus Integral Stimulation System for carbonate reservoirs was successfully selected to be deployed and demonstrate its capabilities by enhancing the stimulation techniques of Matrix jobs, wellbore clean-ups and acid fracturing.

THE CHALLENGE:

To perform a clean-up job with CT to remove organic deposits in a natural fractured oil well of carbonate dolomite-limestone of the formation Kimmeridgian Upper Jurassic (JSK) offshore the Gulf of Mexico prior to perform a matrix job to a naturally fractured carbonate formation to restore and improve the formation’s productivity. The intervals of the Tsimin-22 well, Tsimin-B offshore rig platform are 5618-5668, 5784-5861, 5898-5912 mD, slotted 4 ½ in liner and BHT of 338 °F.

THE SOLUTION:

Initially, UNITED Fields Mexico pumped OilDis-8 Stimulation system mixture of aromatic solvents to clean the wellbore then through bull heading, during the matrix operation an initial stage of N2 was injected followed by energized stages of OilDis-8 and The GREEN Technology REACHER Plus Integral Stimulation Fluid System as the main treatment fluid of the operation with a total volume 188.7 bbls including the clean-up job with CTU prior the main treatment and N2 as a diverter at different injection rates enhanced production by the reduced skin value from 3 to – 2.67 and invasion radius of penetration in the rock of 14.7 ft.

THE RESULTS:

Once the well was open, the increased production got up to 5,917 BOPD which is the 128% higher that the initial production rates in 2022 with less stimulation fluid REACHER Plus compared against conventional acids as proves in a previous core flood laboratory test made where the efficiency of this innovative GREEN Technology propagated the wormholes with the lowest PVBT than the traditional acid fluids.

After 5 months of production, the well Tsimin-22 of PEMEX Mexico is still with the steady oil rate monitoring the benefit that REACHER Plus promises as one of its potentials along with self-corrosion control issues, safety chemical handling and sustainability concerns.

PVBT & CORE FLOOD LAB TEST previous to the Matrix job.

The Production Enhancement Department of UNITED Fields took four cores of dolomite-minor limestone to study an experimental observation on Pore Value to Breakthrough, matrix dissolution and wormhole geometry as a function of the injection flow rate. Each test with the mentioned cores was exposed to a specific interstitial velocity and constant injection flow rate of the GREEN Technology REACHER Plus Integral Stimulation System fluid which started from 0.3 mL/min to 8.0 mL/min having smaller Pore Volumes to Breakthrough (PVBT) of 0.29 achieved than the use of conventional HCl acids and demonstrating the efficiency of the technology and less fluid required to penetrate deeper radius and to propagate thin wormholes in the formation of carbonates to be the most desired for flow enhancement and economically favorable; resulting in the selected fluid from the operator to deploy it in this well.
